Bottega Veneta to release first perfume

Italian luxury label Bottega Veneta has announced the launch of its new fragrance for fall 2011.
It will be the first scent released by the brand, which is predominantly known for its leather handbags but also shows its ready-to-wear collections in Milan and produces several accessory and jewelry lines.
Creative director Tomas Maier said the new venture was an "exciting challenge" but didn't reveal any details about the launch.
The announcement comes after fellow fashion design brands Elie Saab and Jimmy Choo announced their first-ever fragrances, due out next year.
Bottega Veneta is currently branching out on all fronts - just recently, Maier asked Tokyo design students to create furniture to be picked up by the label's interior line. The three finalists of the contest will be announced December 18, with the winner producing the piece of furniture in time for next spring's Saloni fair in Milan.
