SOMETHING that does promise to cross the ocean very soon, however, is a new limited issue of big E 501 jeans. Levi's with a big E on the label have long been a collector's item, selling to enthusiasts for around pounds 200.
Now Levi's in America has issued a limited-edition range of big E 501s, complete with red selvage, selling for a mere dollars 100. With pre-1942 double xx 501s with the crotch rivet selling to obsessive jeans collectors for up to dollars 5,000 ( pounds 3,400), this latest issue promises to be the next big investment buy in denim.
