Alber Elbaz' steady pursuit of happiness at the helm of Lanvin has won him plenty of fans. This season, as the venerable house celebrated 125 years since it began as a luxury childrenswear label, it seems that Elbaz was meditating on age as well as attitude.

Perhaps that's why his casting included some amazing older faces such as those of Amber Valetta and Kirsten Owens mingling with Edie Campbell and Jamie Bouchert.

As the last show of the day and with glasses of champagne served by sleekly-suited waiters, there was something of a party atmosphere before the first look was even shown. When it arrived, a sleek stripped back gown, sexily slit to the thigh, the excitement only increased.

This collection nailed party dressing - from shift shape dresses trimmed with pearls to ornate brocades of gold and fuchsia and even beautifully cut, tuxedo-inspired tailoring.

Everything seemed spun with gold somehow, which added a shimmer, and a shimmy, to proceedings. No wonder then that when Elbaz made his bow he couldn't help but dance.
