Jennifer Aniston, Emma Stone and Lupita Nyong'o led the pack at last night's SAG awards in the best dressed stakes.
The SAG Awards or Screen Actors Guild to give it it's proper name, is yet another red carpet opportunity mid-way through awards season, on the route to the Oscars.
Somewhat overlooked amongst the other major events, however in red carpet terms the SAG awards provide a prime opportunity for A-list attendees and their stylists to pull all the stops out with show-stopping gowns - an Oscars dress rehearsal if you will.
Emma Stone reaffirmed her place at the top of best dresses lists with a black tuxedo dress layered over sheer black tulle by Dior haute couture, giving a very modern take on red carpet dressing.

The combination of a classic black Dior tuxedo jacket with the sheer underlay is a winning formula for Emma.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Julianne Moore in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci. An exquisite beaded gown in emerald green, a colour that works so well on Julianne's fair complexion.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup There's nothing bridal about Maggie Gyllenhaal in this Thakoon dress. The long sleeves, sheer panel and front split, all combine for a fashion forward edge.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Jennifer Aniston in vintage John Galliano. This is quite a departure from Jennifer's usual red carpet looks, and taking a risk has paid off in this metallic lace vintage design.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Julianna Margulies in Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. A breath of bright blue fresh air on the red carpet in this eye-catching cerulean blue shade. The gown probably didn't need the split section in the front which is maybe one detail too far.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Felicity Jones looks lovely in this blush pink Balenciaga gown. The column gown is actually rather simple except for the cross over neckline.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Keira Knightley is demonstrating a real prowess in maternity dressing in this purple Erdem gown. The only objection to this look is the shoulder ties which risk looking a little like bra straps.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani. This look is sleek and eye-catching - white on the red carpet is always a winner.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Rosamund Pike in Dior Haute Couture. Despite the masses of material on this gown, the volume of it doesn't overwhelm Rosamund, saved by the asymmetric hemline.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Emilia Clarke in Donna Karan. Fans of Game of Thrones are used to seeing the show's star in all manner of amazing gowns, meaning this rather drab one is a little disappointing.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Julia Roberts in Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Given she is the new face of the label a tuxedo was the natural choice for Julia, who pulls it off like a pro.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Lupita Nyong'o in Elie Saab. Stripes, multi-colour, long-sleeves, tie-dye effect - on paper it shouldn't work but as expected, on Lupita the look is a triumph.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Naomi Watts in Balenciaga. A simple off the shoulder gown for Naomi Watts showing off her slender figure without breaking any style barriers.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Claire Danes in Marc Jacobs. Khaki is an unusual colour on the red carpet, this gown has a bit of everything; grecian neckline, military belt, sixties detailing up the side, but weirdly it works.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Kaley Cuoco in Romona Keveza. This is perfectly nice, simple strapless red dress but not exactly groundbreaking.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Natalie Dormer in Naeem Khan. Print on the red carpet is a risky thing, the design in itself is very pretty but Natalie needed to do something different with her hair as the whole look comes across a little high school prom-esque
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Emmy Rossum in Armani Prive. A similar issue here for Emmy in this tulle layered lace embroidered gown - in a block colour it may have worked, as it is the whole effect is overwhelming.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Andrea Riseborough in Escada. A real contender for worst dressed unfortunately for Andrea. The colour, the shape, the neckline - there's very little right with this look.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Camilla Alves in Donna Karan. Camilla makes the most of her curves in this figure hugging gown. Bonus points for the purple train and ruching around the middle.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Patricia Arquette in Vivienne Westwood. Award winning Patricia perfectly flatters her figure in this classic Westwood design.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Gwendoline Christie in Giles. It's not easy to dress when you are as statuesque as Gwendoline at 6ft3 nut this bright red design with caped skirt detail does the trick.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Laura Carmichael in Vionnet. A light and breezy organza gown for Downton's Laura, perfectly accessorized with a red lip.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Joanne Froggatt in Honor. If you are going to do a black strapless dress on the red carpet, this is the way to do it.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Viola Davis in Maxmara. A simple white halterneck gown with cut-out detail on the bust with oversized earrings and necklace and a glitzy clutch add the finishing touch.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Sarah Hyland in Vera Wang. The multi-colour embellishment on the top of this look is great, the tulle overlay skirt however is not.
SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup SAG Awards 2015: Red carpet roundup Sofia Vergara in Donna Karan. Bright red - check, sheer cutaway detail - check, clings to every curve - check. Great red carpet form by Sofia.
Jennifer Aniston left her black dresses at home in favour of a spectacular vintage John Galliano plunging neckline gown, very far from her usual 'safe' red carpet looks.
Lupita Nyong'o is not ready to relinquish her best dressed crown from last year's awards season. She opted for a patterned v-neck gown by Elie Saab bringing some much needed colour to the event.
Julianne Moore looked the part of an award winning actress - she once again took home the top accolade, in a green beaded dress by Givenchy haute couture.
