It may be the clothes that take centre stage at fashion week, but the hair and beauty looks are equally important when it comes to new season trends.

Behind every great designer is a team of hair and makeup professionals ready and waiting to help bring the designer's vision to life.

The importance of hair and makeup can't be understated - it's not just the clothes that will be influencing the trends come spring, the beauty looks seen on the runway will also have a moment next season.

And that's not forgetting the commercial value in beauty too; many of the bigger brands have cosmetics lines which are sold in collections that fall in line with the clothing seasons.

Christopher Kane announced a debut cosmetics collaboration with NARS the products from which were used on models at the show, a budget friendly way for Kane fans to buy into the brand.

Whilst there may have been a few slightly 'out there' trends that you probably won't spot on your local high street anytime soon - those metal eyebrows at Rodarte for example or the black lacquered masks at Alexander McQueen, there were plenty more perfectly wearable ones.

Artfully messy hair was seen at Burberry and Michael Kors - the trick is to look like you've not done a thing. Berry red lips appeared at Dolce & Gabbana, a shade not often worn post-Christmas and pastel colours that usually dominate the season are in the minority for Spring.
