The British Fashion Council (BFC) has today announced BFC Contemporary, a new initiative in collaboration with eBay.

The aim of the initiative is to provide mentorship and guidance to a select group of fashion designers in response to the increasing global demand for contemporary fashion.

The BFC and eBay will work alongside the selected designers to help support and build their businesses.

The 2014 BFC Contemporary recipients are Alexis Barrell, Georgia Hardinge, Paper London, Prism and Zoe Jordan.

"We are delighted to support and help accelerate the growth of these very viable fashion business" said Caroline Rush, CEO of The BFC. "Each of the inaugural BFC Contemporary designers possess incredible creativity and strong brand concepts."

To coincide with London Fashion Week this September, the designers will create an item that encapsulates their brand. The limited edition item will be available to purchase online on the BFC Contemporary shop on eBay.co.uk.
