Statement jumpers to revitalise your autumn wardrobe

The best knitwear is bold and bright this season

With the arrival of autumn comes the ideal opportunity to rethink your wardrobe and at this time of year that means knitwear.

While the cooler weather has its negatives, one of the few plus points is the ability to wrap up in cosy jumpers because, let’s face it, there are few things more comforting than a warm woollen layer to shield you from the wintry temperatures.

That said, it’s fair to assume that most of our knitwear collections are dominated by slightly bland, sensible sweaters. But not for long because this season statement jumpers are here to fight off the boredom of cold weather clothes.

Alas, it’s time to say goodbye to the same old grey jumper you’ve been sporting for years in favour of something altogether more fun.

While neutral colours might seem like a wise investment, the looming dark days call for cheery brights so don’t be afraid to incorporate pops of colour into your knitwear arsenal; a trend that saw Mr Blobby-inspired spots swathe sweaters at Liam Hodges.

Similarly, slogan knits are a great way to add a little interest to your new season look. Here, take your cue from the likes of Fendi and Dior Homme who tapped into the logomania trend this season with jumpers that came trimmed with the fashion house’s branding.

If you really can’t claw yourself away from neutral colours, banish boring woollens by introducing new textures instead. At Lou Dalton, models sported artfully bobbled jumpers while numerous others opted for super-chunky cable knits.

While the style of knit you opt for is up for debate, how you style it requires a little more direction.
