On Tuesday, cult Brooklyn-based brand Telfar announced they had collaborated with Australian sheepskin brand UGG

The news was announced alongside a sneak peak of the upcoming collection on Instagram in a photograph of designer Telfar Clemens sprawled suggestively in front of a white Christmas tree.

The post announced details for a 24-hour pre-order event happening on Cyber Monday to ensure fans can get their hands on the new offering in time for Christmas. The pre-order event follows a similar one that took place in October and was designed to democratise access to the sought-after bags, which have repeatedly sold out online.

The new UGG x TELFAR handbag is shaped in the classic Telfar style, a simple tote bag embossed with their signature ‘TC’ logo, but will be made in chestnut-coloured suede with a creamy shearling trim, to resemble an UGG boot.

The Telfar Shopping bag, nicknamed the “Bushwick Birkin” by fans has amassed a zealous following and regularly sells out in minutes, making it a favourite among the resale community. Every shade and model of the Shopping Bag on the Telfar website is currently sold out, and no doubt this latest collection will fare no differently.

The unisex brand was established by Clemens Telfar in 2004 when the designer was just 18, but rose in stratospheric popularity last year, largely thanks to the vegan bags’ affordability (prices from £87) and the power of social media. In recent times the Telfar bag has been spotted on myriad celebrities from Chloe Sevigny and Dua Lip to Solange Knowles.

The collaboration may come as no surprise to keen followers of Clemens’ work, the designer regularly posts photos of himself relaxing in the popular noughties boot and has regularly sung their praises. In fact, Clemens has been styling his runway models in the comfortable boot brand since 2010, admitting in a press release “I find UGGs really sexy”.

The news comes as UGGs have become one of the chosen shoes for lockdown, with models and celebrities spotted wearing them out and about. Designer Molly Goddard has also collabbed…

To get your hands on one of these coveted bags the pre-order event will take place on the Telfar website from 9am on Monday. According to the Instagram post, you can expect to receive the bag sometime between March and June 2021.
