The King - trailer

Timothée Chalamet and Robert Pattinson have excited Twitter users with their new hair transformations, revealed in the official trailer for their upcoming film The King.

On Tuesday, Netflix released the trailer for the period drama, which stars Chalamet as the English monarch Henry V, who reluctantly ascends to the throne following the death of his father.

While viewers will no doubt have been gripped as they watched glimpses of the Call Me By Your Name star transform from the wilful prince into the young king of England, others were transfixed by a certain element of the trailer – the hairstyles of its stars.

Chalamet debuts a bowl cut in the film, a bold departure from his typical cascading curls.

Meanwhile, Pattinson, who stars as the French Dauphin in the film, wears his hair in a light brunette "lob" – a longer version of a bob which falls just above his shoulders.

For many excited film buffs eager to watch the film, Chalamet and Pattinson's new hairstyles are reason enough to look forward to watching the film, which is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Henriad, a collection of the playwright's historical plays.

"I will see The King for Timothée Chalamet's bowl cut and Robert Pattinson's wig alone," one person tweeted.

"Robert Pattinson in this weave really disturbed my peace with his beauty," another wrote.

Several people compared Pattinson's long hair to actor Jackson Rathbone, who co-starred alongside Pattinson in the Twilight supernatural romance film series.

Rathbone commented on the comparison on Twitter, writing: "Bruh is jacking my style... smdh [shaking my damn head]."

Many of Chalamet's dedicated horde of fans expressed their surprise over the actor's ability to pull off his medieval-inspired bowl cut.

"Tfw [That feeling when] you find @RealChalamet in a bowl cut strangely attractive in The King trailer," one Twitter user wrote.

"Bow down to Timothée Chalamet and his glorious bowl cut," another tweeted.

The King also stars Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp.

It is scheduled to be released on Netflix in autumn this year.
