UGG collaborates with Moschino’s Jeremy Scott

The controversial brand has been given a high-fashion spin

A designer best known for his reinterpretation of pop culture classics on the Moschino runway, Jeremy Scott is giving one of the fashion world’s most divisive products a makeover in his latest project.

Joining forces with UGG, the world-renowned fashion designer has created a limited edition capsule collection that launches this September but, as expected, this is the controversial and cosy Australian boot like you’ve never seen it before.

“I bought a pair of UGG Classic boots and fell in absolute love with them,” he says.

“I could not pass up the opportunity to do my own take on the Classic boot.”

Inspired by the California spirit and Los Angeles pop culture throughout the ages, Scott’s unique and witty approach to design is evident across all eight styles that he designed for women, men and children.

Perhaps one of the most inimitable examples of this is the Classic Short Jewel style, which features hand-sewn beads and jewelled hardware specifically selected by Scott himself. Each boot is made entirely by hand, taking up to one week to complete.

Similarly, the Classic Short Crystal Flames and Classic Short Flames are a quirky take on the brand’s signature style. Here, the designer took the boot’s original silhouette and embroidered it with flames.

While one comes with fiery red and yellow Swarovski crystals, the other is finished with an embroidered applique on a soft suede canvas.

“Jeremy Scott and the UGG brand share a mutual spirit, love for pop culture and California,” says Andrea O’Donnell, President of Fashion Lifestyle Brands.

“We are honoured to collaborate with him for this autumn and launch a collection that stars our iconic Classic boots reinterpreted by Jeremy in his own unique way.”

The capsule collection is available at select global retailers, at Harrods and online, with prices ranging from £75 to £995.
