The 18th Annual New Zealand Culinary Fare, a three-day ‘hot kitchen' competition attracting a thousand emerging chefs and hospitality professionals from Mexico and New Zealand, will take place August 22-24 at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland, New Zealand.
Helen Emler of the Restaurant Association of New Zealand told Relaxnews on July 16 that the event is "the largest hot cooking competition in the Southern Hemisphere as we have 120 hours of comps in 3 days and 72 competitions to choose from" with 200 judges awarding bronze, silver and gold medal positions.
The competitions range from confectionary showpiece, innovative tapas and molecular gastronomy to high tea, table setting and duck carving.
The judges include Geoff Scott (Vinnies), Simon Gault (Nourish Group), Michael Dearth (The Grove), Adrian Brett-Chinnery (Bracu and MasterChef), Mark Wylie (executive chef at SKYCITY), Michael Van de Elzen (Molten), Jeremy Schmidt (215).
