Good news for Pret a Manger fans, who can now purchase the high street chain’s beloved croissants from Tesco.

The Pret “bake-at-home” range of frozen croissants comes in three variations: plain butter, chocolate filled and vegan.

The vegan croissant is made using shea butter, which Pret claims gives it the “same buttery flakiness as a classic croissant”.

The croissants, which are available in the frozen aisles of 700 Tesco UK stores, come in packs of six and start at £3 each.

It marks the first time that a Pret a Manger product can be purchased in a supermarket.

Amy Merrington, assistant buyer at Tesco, commented: “Croissants are our bestselling frozen pastry product but this range offers something unique – a taste of the much-loved Pret A Manger favourite.

“With the nation continuing to spend more time at home, we expect many have missed being able to enjoy freshly baked treats with their morning coffee, so we’re thrilled to be able to now offer our customers exactly this in comfort of their own homes.”

Clare Clough, UK managing director of Pret A Manger, added that “millions” of its croissants are sold on a yearly basis.

“We know how much our customers love our croissants, which is why I’m thrilled that we have been able to launch our new frozen range,” she added, noting that the three flavours on offer are the bestselling ones.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Tesco for Pret’s first ever supermarket food range, marking an important moment in our journey to bring Pret to more people.”

The Independent has asked Tesco if it plans to start selling more Pret a Manger products in the future.
