Pret launches range of coffee available to buy on Amazon

Pret has begun reopening its shops following a six-week shutdown

A new retail range of coffee products available to buy on Amazon has been launched by Pret A Manger.

The range – which includes three types of organic coffee – goes on sale from 18 May and will also be available to buy in shops as well as online.

Pret’s first retail offering includes the firm’s classic blend ground coffee, Peru single origin and espresso beans.

“We know how much customers are missing [our coffee] from their daily lives at the moment, so we’re delighted to be launching our first retail range with Amazon,” said Pret’s UK managing director Clare Clough.

“This marks the first time that our customers can make their favourite Pret coffee at home.”

Pret was forced to close its doors in March after Boris Johnson announced a nationwide lockdown.

But the popular coffee shop, along with a host of other large chains such as KFC and McDonald's has begun easing back into business.

Last week, Pret announced that it was reopening a further 70 outlets across the UK following a six-week shutdown.

CEO Pan Christou said the additional shops will open from 11 May following a successful trial of 30 stores.

“The Pret experience for both our customers and teams will continue to feel very different,” Christou wrote in a blog post announcing the move.

“For example, each shop will be fitted with Perspex screens at the tills, we will restrict the number of customers in our shops, we’ll provide hand sanitiser for customers, and face coverings to our team members who prefer to wear one.”
