Dubbed as the cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant, Tim Ho Wan, which originated in Hong Kong has won the hearts of its locals, visiting foodies and food critics.

Its speciality - dim sum - range from hearty steamed treats to deep-fried dishes.

Dim sum, which literally means “to touch your heart”, refers to an assortment of Chinese delicacies. They can be anything from steamed fresh dumplings to buns (most famous ones are char siu pao i.e. pork buns) through to sweet barley soup.

Tim Ho Wan’s Kowloon site looks like any other nondescript dim sum eateries with queues to get in can last up to three hours. That’s how popular this place is and many think that the long queues are worth the wait once they tuck into Tim Ho Wan’s mouthwatering offerings.

Opened a decade ago, Tim Ho Wan is the brainchild of former Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong chefs Mak Pui Gor and Leung Fai Keung.

Both thought this was going to be a one-off venture and did not anticipate for Tim Ho Wan to gain such international acclaim.

With nearly 50 locations around the world, Tim Ho Wan considers itself as the dim sum specialists around the world.
