From Mendocino…

Edmeades, Mendocino County, Zinfandel 2013

From the rugged, cooler northern coastal area of Mendocino County, this is a highly distinctive take on zinfandel: raspberry, strawberry and cherry fruits dominate, but there is real depth and intensity backing up the fruit, with cassis, smoke and tar all adding to the mix. Great with steak or for a special barbecue this summer.

From Paso Robles…

Eberle Paso Robles Mill Road Viognier 2015

Vines were brought to this former hot springs spa town between San Francisco and Los Angeles by 18th century Spanish conquistadors, although this wine was created by an enthusiast for Rhone varieties. Displaying all the qualities of classic viognier and then some, it is full-bodied and succulent, with rich flavours of peach, apricots and a touch of honey. Asian spiced pork belly, scallops or lobster will do nicely.

From Santa Barbara…

Byron Pinot Noir 2013

Moving further south and from the more Mediterranean climate of Santa Barbara comes a carefully made Pinot Noir that displays both the delicacy of France and the more upfront qualities of the New World: floral aromas, ripe cherry fruits, a hint of earthiness as well as a refreshing mineral quality that keep it lively on the palate. Drink with roast duck, charcuterie or mushroom-based dishes.
