Not all ‘pinks’ are from Provence – the height of summer is the best time to savour pale, delicate roses from all over the world….

From Italy….

Ricasoli Albia Rose 2015

With family roots dating back to the 12th century, Ricasoli was founded by a Tuscan statesman who pioneered both Italian unification and the growth of Chianti. This very light, elegant and well bred Tuscan rose unifies Sangiovese and Merlot in a winning combination. Sip, ice cold, on a warm night, in the garden, dreaming of Tuscany.

From Turkey….

Kayra Beyaz Kalecik Karasi 2015

Turkish wines can be a bit unpredictable, but there is no denying the very classy nature of this modern, well made rose from the indigenous Kalecik Karasi grape near Denizli in the south-west of the country. Delicious red fruit flavours, but very dry and with intriguing savoury notes of ginger and a little pepper. A Turkish mezze spread is required here.

From New Zealand…..

Saint Clair Pinot Gris Rose 2014

The Marlborough region of New Zealand is mostly known for its precision tooled Sauvignon Blanc, although there is also some Pinot Gris, which is the grape here, along with a little Malbec. This is closer in style to an European rather than a New World rose – dry, mineral, refreshing, but with plenty of watermelon, cherry and raspberry flavours. Partner with tomato based pasta or fish dishes.
