Yorkshire pudding burritos take fusion food to a weird new level

Fans of crispy, golden brown Yorkshire puddings, rejoice! The roast dinner staple is now being used to make wraps.

For the uninitiated, Yorkshire puddings are made using a batter of eggs, flour and milk, which is baked in the oven and served mostly commonly with roast beef and gravy. The crispy delights are generally made in cupcake tins, but are also sometimes set into larger bases.

Now, monster-size Yorkshires are being used as a substitute for tortillas in wraps.

The York Roast Co in Yorkshire is among shops to sell this food mashup. There, pastry is used to encase beef, turkey, ham or pork with roast carrots, gravy and cranberry sauce.

Wayne Chadwich, the managing director of York Roast Co. told YorkPress.co.uk that they have been selling the wraps since March, but queues have grown following a BBC News video showcasing the snack.

He said the attention has “overwhelmed” the small, family-run business.

The innovate wraps are also popular in the US, where both enormous sandwiches and burritos are a hit.
