App Store prices for customers in the European Union are set to rise.

Canada and Norway are also set to be hit by the price rise. Prices in Iceland will fall, and Russia will “change”.

The changes will take effect within 36 hours.

The price adjustments are part of an email that was sent by Apple’s App Store team to developers and was seen by Apple Insider.

The adjustments are to take account of changes in VAT and foreign exchange rates, the email said.

The email said that “prices on the App Store will increase for all territories in the European Union”.

Russia’s prices are thought to be unclear because of continuing fluctuations in the value of the country’s currency amid economic turmoil. Those same currency fluctuations brought Apple to halt online sales after the rouble crashed — with hardware then going back on sale at higher prices.

Apple is also shifting its price model so that it can charge fees based on their currency of residence, rather than using a flat fee for those in the EU, reports have said.
