MWC 2017: The stunning Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 will make you fall in love with tablets again

Samsung has launched the productivity-focused Galaxy Book alongside the Tab S3 (above)

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S3, a gorgeous new device that I can confidently call the best-looking tablet on the market.

Like the equally stunning Galaxy S7, the Galaxy Tab S3 has a glass and metal chassis, which is sleek, glossy and unashamedly attractive. This is equal parts gadget and object of desire.

Designed primarily for entertainment purposes, The Android 7-running handset features a 9.7-inch, 2,048 x 1,436 Super AMOLED display that’s capable of running HDR video content from the likes of Amazon Prime Video. It backs the high-end screen tech up with quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG.

Samsung has talked up its gaming credentials too, with the Vulkan API claimed to provide “superior graphics” and a feature called Game Launcher designed to help offer a personalised gaming experience.

Alongside it comes the new Surface Book-like Galaxy Book 2-in-1.

It’s more of productivity-focused, running Windows 10, and is available in two size options: 12-inch and 10.6-inch. Though Samsung hasn’t yet revealed pricing information, the larger of the two will definitely be the more expensive.

It’s just 7.4mm thick and features a 2,160 x 1,440 Super AMOLED display that also supports HDR video, while the 10.6-inch model is a slightly chunkier 8.9mm thick and uses a less impressive 1,920 x 1,080 TFT screen.

The 12-inch model is equipped with a 7th Generation Intel Core i5 processor for serious grunt, while the 10.6-inch version uses an Intel Core m3 processor.

Both the Galaxy Book models and the Tab S3 support Samsung’s revamped S Pen. It’s designed to deliver a more natural-feeling writing experience than ever, thanks to its smaller 0.7mm rubber tip and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity.

They’re also compatible with Samsung Flow, which allows you to wirelessly transfer files between your devices, using your fingerprint for authentication.

Samsung has been coy on release details, but says the Galaxy Tab S3 will get a UK release on 31 March, but will be available to pre-order on 17 March.
