PS4 price cut: $50 discount announced for America, but still no price cut for UK gamers

The announcement of a price cut in North America suggests that a cut for Europe can't be far away

After cutting the price of the PS4 in Japan in September, Sony has announced another sigificant price cut for their new console in North America - but there's still no sign of a reduction for Europe.

As reported by the International Business Times, Sony will cut the price of their consoles by up to $50 (£32) in the US and Canada from 9 October.

This means that the PS4 bundled with the new Uncharted game will cost $350 (£228), rather than the current $400 (£261).

This same bundle in the UK currently costs around £300.

There will also be a price drop for the beefier 1 terabyte PS4 - this version of the console bundled with the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops III will have its price cut by $20.

While this means that British gamers will have to pay more than their American counterparts for the console, there is a sign of hope - this American price drop signals that a European price drop is imminent.

How much the price will go down in the UK isn't clear, but it's safe to assume the discount will be in the region of £50.
