A promotional video has been released by Qantas in celebration of their new collaboration with Tesla Motors. There are no talking heads here – just a classic drag race between plane and car.

The footage shows a Qantas Boeing 737-800 take on a Tesla Model S P90D on a two mile runway in Melbourne, Australia.

The early advantage went to the Tesla electric car which sports a feature called ‘Ludicrous mode’ allowing the vehicle to reach 60mph in just three seconds.

It is nip and tuck once the Boeing plane builds up speed but the car manages to rule the road – only until the plane lifts off.

We’ll call it a draw, then.

The collaboration between Qantas and Tesla is an attempt to drive innovation for customers and sustainability in the transport industry.
