If you study in Wolverhampton then you are in luck - the university has one of the most advanced student employment bureaux in the country, which attempts to match students' part-time work with their eventual career aspirations.

In Birmingham, the University of Central England, the University of Birmingham and Aston University all advertise jobs on campus or site. Jobs in pubs, clubs and the big venues like the National Indoor Arena are plentiful.

The University of Nottingham is ahead of the game with its employment bureau, known as The Nucleus. This ensures that employers offer at least the basic student wage - expect at least pounds 3.50 per hour or over. The Queens Medical Centre is always looking for students to take part in trials.

Walkers Crisps is a good bet in Leicester, offering excellent rates of pay. De Montfort is setting up its own job shop, and the University of Leicester runs a student employment centre.

In Loughborough look no further than the many pubs in the town, which are crying out for staff.

At the University of Stafford, the big local employers are the Disney store in Hanley, McDonald's and at Festival Park.
