Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have shared the first close-up photo of their newborn son and revealed the special meaning behind his name.

On Thursday, the couple shared a photo showing the baby wrapped in a cream blanket on their respective Instagram accounts.

While Alec simply shared the newborn’s moniker in the caption, Hilaria wrote: “We would love to introduce you to Eduardo Pau Lucas Baldwin.

“Born Sept 8, 2020 at 7:46pm he weighed 7lbs 8oz. His name means 'wealthy guardian of peace and light'.

"We love you baby Edu.”

The couple announced the birth of their fifth child together on Wednesday morning by sharing a photo of themselves sitting on a hospital bed with the newborn.

“We had a baby last night. He is perfect and we couldn't be happier. Stay tuned for a name,” Hilaria captioned the image.

Alec shared the same photograph alongside the caption: “Número Cinco está aqui ... (Para mi, número seis),” which translates to: “Number five is here ... for me, number six.”

He added: “I love you, @hilariabaldwin. My karma is your karma. Your karma is mine.”

The new baby joins siblings Carmen, seven, Rafael, five, Leonardo, three, and Romeo, two.

Alec also has a 24-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his previous marriage to Kim Basinger.

Hilaria, who previously opened up about suffering two miscarriages, revealed she was pregnant again in April.

The 36-year-old made the announcement by sharing a video of her pregnant stomach and the baby’s audible heartbeat during an ultrasound scan.

“Sound up...I’ll let the baby do the talking because I don’t have the words to express how this sound makes us feel,” she wrote at the time.

“Just got the great news that all is well and all is healthy with this little munchkin. I wanted to share this with you. Here we go again.”
