PENILE implants can improve a man's sex life, but cannot by themselves save his marriage or provide him with more dates, a US doctor has warned. Irvin Goldstein, a urologist from Boston University School of Medicine, conducted a national survey of 112 previously impotent men who had been given the newer, more sophisticated implants that allow the penis to become flaccid after intercourse instead of remaining permanently hard. More than 80 per cent of the men said they were pleased with the device. Those who were dissatisfied had unrealistic expectations, he says in the Journal of Urology.
