Listening to a favourite piece of music may improve a surgeon's performance, according to research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. A study of 50 surgeons found that they had lower blood pressure and pulse rates and performed better while listening to music of their choice. Forty-six chose classical music, while two chose jazz and two Irish folk music.
