SMALL children with diarrhoea should not be allowed to share their paddling pools with others, warns a report in Epidemiology and Infections. It describes the case of six toddlers in Scotland who all became infected with a strain of the E. Coli bacterium; one child went on to develop haemolytic-uraemic syndrome, a rare disease triggered by bacterial or viral infection. It was traced to a plastic paddling pool.
