HONEY could be used to treat ulcers and indigestion by eradicating the bacterium implicated in these conditions, say researchers from the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. In laboratory tests, reported in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, they have shown that a 5 per cent solution of honey from the manuka flower prevented growth of Helicobacter pylori.
