IN A BIZARRE report, the British Medical Journal describes the case of a three-year-old boy who developed throat swelling and blocked airways five hours after sucking freshly made tea from a teapot spout. He needed a general anaesthetic so that doctors could insert tubes for breathing and feeding. The report cites two other similar cases.
