`Perfect' lawns
A mania for the perfect lawn may put children at risk of developing cancer, say researchers from North Carolina. Their study, published in the American Journal of Public Health, suggests that children under 14 have four times the normal risk of developing tumours of the connective tissue if their gardens are treated with herbicides or pesticides.
