Two babies have died of an E.coli infection and three other people have been poisoned, health officials in Swansea confirmed last night.
One of the babies, who died after contracting ESBL E.coli at the city's Singleton Hospital, was "very premature". The second baby died in the community but the mother is suspected of contracting the infection at the hospital.
Three other cases were confirmed but health officials said they appeared to be isolated incidents. Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board, which runs Singleton Hospital, and Public Health Wales are investigating.
