Jedward have been inundated with messages of condolence from fans after announcing that their mother has passed away from cancer.

The pop duo, which consists of twins John and Edward Grimes, paid tribute to their mother Susanna Condron by sharing a heartfelt message on Twitter and Instagram.

"Rest in peace Mammy. You live on through us. We will miss you and your smile. You shaped the character of who we are," Jedward tweeted.

"Mammy lived with cancer for many years but was always full of life! You live on in our memories and will always be alive in our hearts."

They also shared a series of black and white pictures of their mother, including one with their older brother Kevin and father John Grimes.

Jedward have received numerous messages of support from their fans and peers in the music industry, many of whom praised Condron for the influence she had on her sons' lives.

"My deepest condolences," tweeted music act Cascada.

"I'm absolutely devastated. Susanna has always been as much a part of the Jedward experience for me as you are," one fan commented.

"I can't even imagine how you're feeling right now. I'm shaken."

Another fan described an interaction she'd once had with Condron when she was unable to find her friends at a Jedward gig.

"I know she's your mum but she felt like everyone's mum," the fan tweeted.

"I remember coming to see you and lost my friends. And she asked if I was ok and put her arm round me."

Jedward first found fame in 2009 when they starred on the sixth series of The X Factor, during which time they were mentored by Louis Walsh.

Condron acted as her sons' manager throughout their career.

While taking part in Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, Jedward's father was hospitalised after becoming seriously ill.

The pair only found out about their father's condition after coming in second in the competition, as he didn't want to "jeopardise their chances of reaching the final", as outlined in a statement released by Condron at the time.

Jedward later confirmed that their father was recovering from his illness.
