Famed US TV star Dr. Mehmet Oz and celebrity author Dr. Michael Roizen have just launched a new website for women focusing on the "science of beauty."

Launched last week with major financial backing from Contour Venture Partners (founded by Oprah's fitness trainer Bob Green), the site, YouBeauty, targets women aged 25 to 55 who enjoy health quizzes and aim to enhance their beauty via a healthy lifestyle, according to MedCity, a medical and health news website, in a report on July 8.

On its website, YouBeauty describes itself "as the first website to explore the link between beauty and health in a fun, factual way."

Oz is a best-selling author and has written more than 400 books, and hosts the US television series The Dr. Oz Show. Roizen is the author of the award-winning series of RealAge books, best sellers in the US, which spawned the quiz-oriented RealAge website.

Similar to RealAge, the new site devises personalized action plans for a woman's health and beauty based on data gathered from quizzes. Users can opt for daily emails with tips and advice.

MedCity cites some potential competitors to the new site as including health and beauty sites TotalBeauty and WebMD. YouBeauty has also set up a content-sharing parternship with Yahoo's Shine.
