Janelle Monáe wears Ralph Lauren gown to Oscars that took more than 600 hours to make
Custom gown features more than 168,000 Swarovski crystals

Oscars viewers named Janelle Monáe one of the best-dressed stars on the red carpet, just moments after the actress arrived at the 92nd annual Academy Awards.
On Sunday, the Harriet actress arrived on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre dressed in a hand-embroidered custom Ralph Lauren gown with a hood detail and draped back.
The singer accessorised the silver dress, which featured 168,000 Swarovski crystals and took more than 600 hours to make, according to WWD, with matte orange lipstick, sleek hair, sparkling eyeliner and a choker necklace.
On social media, people are praising Monáe for the glamorous outfit.
“Janelle Monáe does NO WRONG,” one person tweeted.
Another said: “I love every single inch of this. Janelle Monáe is a vision.”
While posing on the red carpet, the singer, who is expected to perform during the award ceremony, discussed the important message she hopes viewers take from Harriet, based on the story of Harriet Tubman.
“Listen to black women,” Monáe said. “When we are in positions of leadership, when we have your support, we can do the unthinkable. We can do the impossible.”
