Jonathan Van Ness may transform people’s lives for the better, but there is one Queer Eye makeover episode that he regrets.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News, the grooming expert revealed that he wishes he never shaved the beard of Ted Terry in the final episode of the show’s second season.

Mr Terry, the 30-year-old mayor of Clarkston, Georgia, had been growing a beard since President Trump was elected - before the Queer Eye crew decided it would look more professional to shave it off.

But, according to Van Ness, the show had to twist his arm to convince him to carry out the makeover.

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t want to take that beard off,” the 32-year-old said. “I was very pro-beard. I was very pro-resistance beard.

“I definitely got my little arm twisted on that.”

After the episode aired, Mr Terry told CityLab that the show had “really wanted a transformation” so he was “happy to abide by a very stark contrast from a beard I had been growing out for almost a year to being clean shaven”.

The mayor has since grown his beard back, but told the outlet that he won’t go “full mountain man again” and has since incorporated the use of beard oil per Van Ness’s suggestion.

During the interview with BuzzFeed, fellow Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski said he has “never made any mistakes so wouldn’t know,” before revealing that his own regret had to do with lemon concentrate being served instead of actual lemonade during season one, episode one.
