Kate Hudson reveals why she loves ‘liberating’ buzz cut
'I loved it. I miss it'
Kate Hudson has praised the benefits of shaving all her hair off after having to get a buzz cut for a film role, saying that it’s something all women should do at some point in their lives.
Describing it as “liberating”, the Hollywood actress explained she got the subversive hairdo for her role in Sister, written by Australian singer Sia.
The chopped brunette look was a dramatic change for the 38-year-old star, who is typically seen sporting long, Rapunzel-style blonde locks.
Speaking on Lorraine, Hudson revealed how her 14-year-old son Ryder helped her to cut all her hair off using “clippers”.
"It's funny, when you're doing it for a role you don't think about it, but when it was done it was like: 'My head's shaved!'
"I loved it. I miss it,” she added, now sporting a longer pixie cut with blonde and brunette streaks.
Hudson also revealed that her boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, the former guitarist for the band Chief, was a huge fan of the haircut and would often give her head massages in the evenings to help her relax.
The How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days star then urged all women to try shaving their heads at some point.
"I honestly think a woman in her life at one point just needs to chop it all off, there's something so liberating about it," she said.
While years ago women shaving their hair off might've been considered a little odd and best left to the skate park, it's actually become quite the trend in recent years, with the likes of Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and Adwoa Aboah all bringing the buzz cut back with a healthy dose of "no hair, don't care".
Now that the weather is getting a little better, why not make like Hudson and her legion of stylish comrades and give the buzz cut a go?
At least you won’t have to worry about leaving your hairbrush at home.
