Katy Perry says Harry Styles was ‘a complete gentleman’ in response to pregnancy announcement

Katy Perry has discussed how Harry Styles reacted to her pregnancy news when they saw each other on a flight, describing the Brit as “a complete gentleman”.

In March, Perry confirmed she was expecting her first child with fiancé Orlando Bloom.

However, before the singer shared her news with the world, she disclosed her pregnancy announcement with fellow singer Styles.

While appearing on Scott Mills’ Radio 1 show on Tuesday 9 May, Perry explained that she and Styles struck up conversation while recently on the same plane.

“I saw him on a plane, it’s so funny. I actually saw him on a plane before I announced that I was pregnant, and we were having a conversation and I was like, ‘Yeah, and I’m pregnant!’ just like off the cuff, cause I was like, what else do you say?” the 35-year-old said.

Perry explained that upon hearing she was pregnant, Styles immediately offered her his seat ”like a complete gentleman”.

“He was so happy for me, he actually – you know what, he was so sweet,” she recalled.

“I was like crouching down by his seat on the plane, and once I told him that, he got up out of his seat and he was like, ‘Here, sit in my seat.’ And I’m like, no, I’ll just go sit in my own seat, which is right across the way. But he’s like a complete gentleman.”

Perry added that 26-year-old Styles “just knew exactly what to do”.

Perry recently opened up about the difficulties of being pregnant while in quarantine during the pandemic, saying she has on occasion locked herself in her car to cry and get some “space”.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp in May, the “Daisies” singer said she is taking pregnancy “one day at a time”.

“I cry. I have put myself in my car outside my house and locked the doors,” the musician stated, adding: “I need my space”.

Perry also said she has been craving spicy food during her pregnancy.

“I have never wanted more spice than I do want in my life now. So it’s all about spice, how hot can my mouth get,” she remarked.
