Keanu Reeves is being praised for bringing his mother as his date to the 92nd annual Oscars, despite some viewers mistakenly confusing her for his girlfriend Alexandra Grant.

On Sunday, the actor arrived on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre alongside his mother, costume designer Patricia Taylor.

Reeves’ decision to bring his mum as his date prompted fans to express their love for the actor on social media.

“Keanu Reeves brought his mom to the Oscars and that’s what will be thawing my icy cold heart tonight,” one person wrote.

Another said: “Keanu Reeves came to the Oscars with his mom! They look so sweet!”

Despite the thoughtful gesture, it appears that many expected Reeves to arrive at the awards ceremony with his girlfriend Grant, 47, prompting some to mistake the actor’s mother for the artist.

The confusion led some to question why Ryan Seacrest referred to Taylor as Reeve’s mother.

“Did Ryan Seacrest just call Keanu Reeves’ girlfriend his ‘Mom?!’” one person asked on Twitter.

Getty Images also misidentified Taylor as Grant in the caption of a picture of the pair.

While walking the red carpet, the pair stopped to talk to Seacrest, who asked Reeves and his mum about The Matrix 4, which the actor is currently filming.

In response to the question, Taylor said she could say “nothing”.

Reeves and Grant first confirmed their relationship last fall while attending the LACMA Art + Film Gala, where they were photographed holding hands.
