n In his article "Kiss Me Hardy" (Back Bites, 14 January) on the chanteuse Francoise Hardy, David Jenkins states that "she has languor written all over her, despite her bulimic thinness".

Mr Jenkins is mistaken. Thinness is rarely a feature of bulimia nervosa. Most people suffering from this disorder are of normal or above normal weight for their height and build.
