Justin Bieber has teased that he is in an “arranged marriage” with his wife Hailey Bieber.

Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show with guest host Demi Lovato, Bieber recalled how he and Hailey met as teenagers.

“We met in the early mornings of a Today show taping,” the 26-year-old said. “I’m pretty sure she didn’t want to be there.

"Her dad dragged her out of bed in the morning.

“I think because she was raised Christian, they found out that I was (too).”

The 25-year-old continued: “I think it was an arranged marriage, I’m pretty sure.

“Looking back now, I’m like, ‘It was definitely an arranged marriage. They set this whole thing up’.”

The “Yummy” singer added that he suspected his and Hailey’s parents wanted them to be together due to their shared Christian values.

“Since she was raised Christian, it was like, ‘I want to introduce you to Justin and his mum. They have similar values and believe the same things. We think you guys would be good friends’.”

Bieber added: “It was definitely an arranged marriage now that I’m thinking about it. Goodness gracious.”

Last month Bieber said the prospect of being with his wife forever gave him "the chills".

Bieber's latest album Changes, the first to be released in five years, features several odes to his wife.

During an album listening party at Tape nightclub in central London, Justin spoke about his relationship with the model, explaining how he turned to her for musical inspiration.

"This whole album is super dedicated to her and my love for her, and hopefully that translates.”
