A single man in Sheffield has paid £425 for a billboard in order to advertise himself in the hope of landing a date.
Mark Rofe, 30, is featured on the giant sign lying on his side above the phrase: ”Single? Date Mark. This could be the sign you’ve been waiting for.”
The billboard, which is located on a busy road in Manchester, directs prospective applicants towards a website that offers further information about Mr Rofe and carries the slogan: “One man, one billboard, one mission”.

Those interested in applying for a date are directed to fill out an application form on which they’re asked to divulge their social media handles, upload a photograph of themselves, and write a message for Mr Rofe. So far, more than 292 people have applied.
“I’ve been single for a little while now, and many of my friends are married or in long term relationships,” he said.
“I’ve tried the dating apps, but they just weren’t working for me, so I decided to try something a little bit different to try and stand out.”
Mr Rofe explained that the idea for the billboard started off during a pub chat.
“I was talking to my mate saying how I was struggling on all these dating apps and I joked that I should put my face on a big billboard,” he told the BBC.
“We laughed about it but then actually I thought what a good idea.”
Mr Rofe added that he was surprised by how many people have got in touch so far.
“Some people might think I’m mad paying £425 but if I find love then it’s fairly cheap,” he added.
“I tried to make it funny so hopefully I don’t come across as a desperate loser.”
