‘If you ever wanted to be more than friends, I would be yours in a heartbeat’

Anyone who’s privy to a frequent Netflix binge will be well aware that the streaming service has recently released a new teen romantic comedy called To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.

Not only has the film been highly acclaimed, currently holding a 94 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s also been inspiring viewers to reveal feelings that they’ve been harbouring for long-lost loves.

Earlier this week, Netflix US asked its five million Twitter followers to email in messages for their crushes, best friends or heroes that it would then share anonymously, and the responses have been exceptionally sweet and relatable.

One person described a crush that they’d been friends with for four years who they’d supposedly fallen in love with at first sight.

“I’ve never told you because our friendship is so special to me and I don’t want to ruin it,” they wrote.

“If you ever wanted to be more than friends, I would be yours in a heartbeat. You’re the woman of my dreams and I couldn’t imagine my life without you.”

Another person revealed that they’d had feelings for a certain someone for quite some time, but hadn’t found the courage to make their sentiments known.

“You’re funny, smart, talented, and truly a one-of-a-kind person,” they wrote. “Anybody would be lucky to have you as their girl.”

One individual who’s in a relationship sent in a message of appreciation for their partner, who they’ve been with since they were both 16 years old.

“I wish I could tell our 16-year-old selves that what we had would become the kind of love that we only ever read about in books. But I can’t,” they wrote.

“So instead I’ll tell you right now that being with you is better than any of those books, and that you’re the best friend I ever had.”

When sharing the anonymous emails on Twitter, Netflix has also been tagging the recipients of the messages in order to inform them that they have a secret admirer.

Many people have been expressing how much they love the anonymous messages, with one person tweeting: "Wow all these messages are so cute and heartwarming."
