Eager, resourceful or just plain desperate?

With long working hours and the rise of online dating, it’s much harder to meet potential partner’s IRL - but that doesn’t mean you should jump the gun every time you see a dreamboat in public.

Some places are just not conducive with meeting a love interest – while you’re sweating it out at the gym, visiting the hospital or at a family reunion – but unfortunately, that doesn’t stop some people.

Call it eager, resourceful or just plain desperate, women have been recalling the worst places that they have been hit on in an eye-opening Reddit thread.

The first, and arguably most frequent, scenario where women say they have been approached is at a funeral. Seriously.

“At my grandad's funeral, we were walking back to my mum's car where a family friend thought it was appropriate to tell me how he felt about me and if I was interested in going out for dinner with him,” one person wrote.

While another simply added, “I got hit on by the funeral director at my Nana's wake.”

A surprising number of women also revealed that they had been hit on while receiving medical attention.

“I got hit on by an ultrasound tech after getting a transvaginal ultrasound. She at least waited until I had my pants back on, but I generally don't go on dates with people who have medically examined my vagina and innards. Weird, I know,” one woman admitted.

Another said, “My doctor - NOT the nurse, literally my doctor - asked me on a date while I was getting an STD test WITH my partner at the time. Can't even make this s*** up.”

But as it turns out, doctors and nurses get their fair share too. One user wrote, “As I was emptying a patient's catheter bag into a urinal, he told me he bet I had a nice body under my scrubs.”

“Patients or family members hitting on me as I'm providing them care. One even hit on me as I was actively holding his penis in a urinal,” another woman added.

Meanwhile, one woman proved that literally no where is safe by adding, ““We were beside each other in line at an STD clinic.”

Other examples include creepy teachers, friend’s husbands and even Uber drivers.

“Various Uber drivers (asking someone out at the end of the ride when they're stepping out of the car is ok IMO... but I feel super uncomfortable being stuck in a small vehicle for some amount of time with a guy I just turned down),” another person added.

Perhaps the most bizarre and worrying of all though, involves women being followed in public.

“I was 20, walking back to my apartment with Chinese takeout, and a man who was probably late 50s/early 60s started walking next to me. It was dark, he smelled terrible, and he kept asking me to come back to the halfway house he was bunking in,” one woman divulged.

Another shared a similar experience writing, “A man once followed me into the bra/panties department of Lord and Taylor where he continued to hit on me, ask me out, try for my number, and refuse to leave me alone until I ran into the dressing room and locked a door.”
