An inquiry was launched yesterday after a man collapsed during a police raid at a house in south-east London and later died in hospital.

Police went to search the 27-year-old man's Deptford home under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Scotland Yard said officers found the man on the floor of the house in Cranbrook Road in a fit and they tried to resuscitate the him.

He was taken to Lewisham Hospital where he died at 5pm. A Scotland Yard spokesman said the search was not carried and the man was not arrested.
