Mel B used to have reiki healing before performing with Spice Girls to combat 'really bad anxiety'
'As soon as I got on stage I was a different person,' says singer

Mel B has revealed she used to have reiki healing prior to Spice Girls performances to combat anxiety.
Speaking on Badoo's podcast, "The Truth Flirts", the musician explained that many singers suffer from “really bad anxiety”.
“And I can really identify with that,” she continued. “Before I was doing the Spice Girls concert shows, I would have reiki healing.
“My build up to walking on stage to 90,000 people was meditating, doing my vocal warmups, being completely calm and quiet, getting my reiki healing done.”
The singer explained that some of her bandmates found the ritual unusual.
“Everyone else would be going ‘what you doing? Let’s get fired up’, I was like, I need to be really calm because my anxiety is through the roof. As soon as I got on stage I was a different person.”
The musician went on to discuss self-care and touted the benefits of spending time alone.
“I think in general we don’t take enough time out to be alone, to be in our own feelings, to wake up in the morning and deal with whatever mood we’re in, without going to social media, without beating yourself up and looking in the mirror,” she said.
“I don’t think we spend enough time being nice to ourselves, by ourselves, for ourselves... which is sad really”
Mel B explained that she has ADD and ADHD, adding: “there’s a reason why my brain functions differently”.
The subject of the podcast episode was discussing mental health with a romantic partner, which Mel B said is something she has always been open with.
“It has to be addressed earlier than not,” she said before adding that some people have previously exploited her openness.
“I’m very vulnerable, and that’s got me into certain situations in relationships where somebody either takes advantage of that or they are abusive, emotionally, so it can open the floodgates in a negative way for you to be put in those kinds of horrible situations.”
