BMW M3 and M4 competition packages revealed: More power, and the means to handle it
There should be a limited number of 30th anniversary models in the UK, and the competition packs will feature on those

If you felt an M3 saloon or an M4 coupe or indeed an M4 cabriolet were simply not cutting the mustard, then BMW have now added more relish. The new competition packages for these models add more power, better handling to cope with it and some tweaks inside and out.
There should be a limited number of 30th anniversary models in the UK, and the competition packs will feature on those. The twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine has been tweaked to increase power from 425bhp to 444bhp. Torque however doesn’t move, at 405lb ft.
BMW haven’t said how they’ve achieved this, but the effect is to knock about a tenth of a second off the 0-62mph time. There shouldn’t be any penalty at the pumps for this increase.
The packs include new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. Electronics like the drive modes, stability control and diff settings have all been reconfigured to suit.
Underneath there are new and unique 20in alloys, and there are high-gloss black accents to the exterior. Inside there are lightweight sports seats with striped seatbelts.
BMW haven’t announced pricing yet, but it looks likely that the upgraded M3 will be around £62,000 and the M4 Cabriolet will be about £69,000.
