If you are travelling to Europe this year the AA says you have a one in 15 chance of having car trouble. The most common causes of breakdown abroad are overheating, clutch, gearbox or petrol pump failure, broken windscreens or windows, electrical faults, battery failures, alternator failures, running out of petrol, and lost keys or lockouts.
