Car choice: Should I click to buy?
Karen Duggan asks whether it is a sensible move to buy a car entirely online, and what are the options?
Car for the head
Peugeot have a couple of schemes which allow customers to buy online. Just Add Fuel is a finance package that covers the costs of a brand new Peugeot. For a fixed monthly payment on a 37-month contract with 4.9 per cent APR (representative), Karen would get over a three-year period, insurance, for up to three drivers, car tax, warranty, roadside assistance and routine servicing. A perky little Peugeot 108 came in at £152.90 with a £2,500 deposit, although you need to check the small print for monthly contributions to insurance and recovery.
Car for the heart
There are issues with buying used cars online as a lot of trust, arguably a matter of the heart, especially as Karen will be relying on the seller to be honest about the condition. There is an option of using a car finding service who will not only locate the best car, but also get the best price. We spoke to Palmdale.co.uk – their initial consultation is free, then the team will go and find the car, new or used. It starts from £595 plus VAT plus any expenses. The car would be delivered to Karen’s house.
