Jerry Seinfeld's Porsche collection goes up for auction in Florida
On 11 March, Amelia Island in Florida will host an auction at which comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s collection of 18 classic cars will be up for sale.
Most of the collection are Porsches, and several are very notable indeed.
The highlight, for example, is a 1973 917/30 Can-Am Spyder – estimated by auctioneers Gooding and Co to be worth $5-7million.
Scarcely less notable is a 550 Spyder from 1955. Having covered a mere 10,500 miles in the hands of just three owners, it’s expected to make $5-6m.
From more modern times, Goodings estimates that $1.5-2m will buy the 962C which took podium places in the 1990 World Sportscar series with Joest Racing.
At the everyman end of the scale (everything’s relative), a 911 from 1966 is expected to drop the hammer at $200,000.
And what if Porsches aren’t your thing? Then there’s an estimate of $80,000 on a split-screen Volkswagen Type 2 camper from 1964.
