Porsche Boxster Spyder car review: This latest model is better than ever
Porsche certainly knows how to thrill with it latest Boxster Spyder

It uses the more powerful 370bhp 3.8-litre six-cylinder from the 911 Carrera S. At 1315kg, it weighs 10kg less than the regular Boxster. And the removable roof is a simplified affair over its predecessor’s fiddly top, which is never a bad thing. Porsche certainly knows how to thrill with it latest Boxster Spyder.
Working the involving six-speed manual gearbox’s short-throw shifter to get the most out of the peaky engine is a delight; 0-62mph takes just 4.5sec and top speed is 180mph. Boxster GTS suspension features a tweaked rear anti-roll bar, and firm ride at low speeds settles as the velocity builds. A limited-slip diff controls the distribution of the additional 45bhp over the GTS, while feedback from the 911 Turbo steering rack is delicate and precise. In fact, all the driver controls are first-class.

And that soft-top? Several subtle modifications means its manual removal is quicker and easier than before, and it will stay in place whatever the driving conditions – something that couldn’t always be said of the previous model.
It all adds up to the best Porsche Boxster yet – wholly satisfying and fully deserving of its five-star rating here.
