Trans model Munroe Bergdorf has a new look after facial feminisation surgery

British model and social activist Munroe Bergdorf has taken to social media to share the results of her facial feminisation surgery.

Bergdof chose to undergo gender transition treatment around seven years ago at the age of 24, appearing in an episode of London Live’s Drag Queens of London that documented her transition.

She has since become a social activist, using her online platform to discuss important issues including transphobia and racism.

Bergdorf has garnered an impressive following, with over 40,000 followers on Twitter and 58,000 on Instagram.

She decided that her dedicated followers should be the first to hear about her recent surgery, writing a long post explaining her reasoning.

“Three weeks ago I underwent facial feminisation surgery (FFS), which consisted of multiple surgeries to feminise my facial features with how I see myself on the inside,” she wrote.

“This is surgery that I’ve waited for and desperately wanted for over seven years and I can’t tell you how much of a weight has been lifted as a result.

“Like many trans people, gender dysphoria is something that I have battled with throughout my transition.

“I made this decision by myself, for myself, so that I can start the next chapter of my life.”

Bergdorf understands that surgery isn’t necessarily something that all trans people have the desire or the means of choosing.

“Surgery is a personal choice, not all trans people want surgery, not all trans people need or have medical access to surgery, but it was the right decision for me and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to make such a decision,” she wrote.

Praise for Bergdorf has come flooding in online, with numerous people commenting with messages of support for her decision.

“You look amazing and I’m so glad you finally got this procedure that you’ve wanted for so long,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“It’s a good feeling to be comfortable in your body!”

Bergdorf has posted a variety of further photos showcasing her new look.

“Thank you for all the messages of love and understanding,” she wrote in response to the support she’s received.

“I was definitely a bit nervous about sharing something so personal so widely.

“So a huge thank you for the support."
